Africa-Press – Botswana. The multimillion Pula Bakgatla tribal administration Kgotla shelter is set to open on the second week of September this year.

This was revealed by Bakgatla Deputy Paramount Chief Kgosi Bana Sekai during a consultative meeting with morafe on Saturday.

He said after several fruitful engagements with Bakgatla Paramount chief Kgosi Kgafela II, they took the decision to open the state-of-the-art facility in September, a week before celebrations of the culture day of Bakgatla in Moruleng.

Construction of the kgotla shelter began in 2019 after sourcing funds from the constituency fund.

Kgosi Sekai also presented to morafe the steering committee which was charged with arranging logistics for the construction of the shelter and thanked them for their tireless efforts in seeing that the structure was up and running.

He said some of the committee members were influential in his reinstatement after serving suspension.

Morafe took turns to applaud efforts made by the local leadership and the committee for the construction of the shelter.

They were only worried about the limited time given until the shelter was complete and ready for use. Bakgatla encouraged each other to join hands in community projects and deliver such projects timely.

They pleaded with Kgosi Sekai to ask the committee to present a detailed report on the project.

Kgosi Sekai assured morafe that a report would be presented upon completion of the project and requested them to organise a committee for the official opening of the shelter.

Kgosi Sekai also announced to morafe the coronation of Kgosi Nchaupe III Makapane of Bakgatla Ba Mosetlha in South Africa.

He said the coronation which would take place on July 8 would be officially performed by Kgosi Kgafela. He urged morafe to travel in large numbers to support Kgosi Kgafela as he discharged his tribal duties as Kgosi Kgolo ya Bakgatla.

In other matters, Kgosi Sekai was worried about the rising number of social ills in the village. He said he recently met with relevant officials and agreed to maintain law and order.

Kgatleng District Council Chairperson Mr Dan Molokwe assured morafe that constituency funds would be utilized to complete the project.
