BCP LAUNCHES NGAMI PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATE

Africa-Press – Botswana. The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) president, Mr Dumelang Saleshando says the party is a trusted organ with Batswana’s interests at heart.

Launching the party’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Ngami Constituency on Sunday in Gumare, Mr Saleshando appealed to the electorates to vote for Mr Philemon Aaron in the coming general elections.

Mr Saleshando said BCP would focus on job creation and would ensure investors commit to employment creation for the locals.

He said BCP had liaised with experts to establish what was desirable to improve the lives of the residents of Ngami and Batswana in general.

He said the BCP deserved a chance to govern and implement its fruitful policies and programmes for the benefit of Batswana.

Therefore, he said the BCP must be given a chance to win at least 31 parliamentary seats to become the ultimate winner of the general polls. He said the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) led government had failed to develop the lives of Batswana s.

He said the Mr Aron was a Ngami native and a businessman of repute who had created employment for fellow citizens, therefore he deserved to be given a chance to represent his people.

“He is tried and trusted. He has done a lot in the tourism industry,” said Mr Saleshando.

Meanwhile, Councillor for Boro/Senonnori ward, Mr Kenson Kgaga said Mr Aaron was a trusted leader who was instrumental in local empowerment of the Safari industry.

The current Member of Parliament for Ngami, Mr Caterpillar Hikuama said the BCP was capable of winning all the seven North West constituencies which were Ngami, Okavango West, Okavango East, Chobe, Maun West, Maun East and Maun North.

Mr Hikuama who will run for the Maun West constituency in the coming general elections said BCP chose candidates who had people’s interests at the forefront.

He said Mr Aaron was a long standing member of the BCP who had always supported the Ngami candidates.

Mr Hikuama advised Mr Aaron to hit the ground running since Ngami constituency had challenges of bad roads, poor school results and health relating challenges.

For his part, the prospective parliament candidate said he was an active and long serving member, who had over the years been working for the party behind the scenes. Mr Aaron said the Ngami constituency was impoverished and lacked pertinent developments.

He said the most of the major roads in the constituency were inaccessible, while schools’ infrastructure was dilapidated.

He said the constituency lacked health facilities and was in need of a well-resourced hospital.

Mr Aaron appealed to the constituents to vote for the BCP candidates and the BCP president candidate to ensure the party assumed power to improve the lives of the people.
