BIHL Trust Donates P500 000 to Botswana Red Cross

Africa-Press – Botswana. The Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited (BIHL) has donated P500 000 to the Botswana Red Cross Society for flood relief efforts.

The Trust chairperson, Ms Ngwatshi Enyatsheng said during the handover ceremony in Gaborone on Monday that BIHL’s responsibility extended beyond business to making meaningful contributions that impacted the society, hence the donation.

“This contribution of P500 000 is a proud reflection of our unwavering dedication to supporting communities in distress. We are confident that through the Botswana Red Cross Society’s impactful approach, this assistance will reach those who need it most,” Ms Enyatsheng said.

She further commended the BRCS for its steadfast commitment to disaster response and humanitarian aid, calling it an honour to stand alongside the organisation during such critical times.

The chief executive officer and secretary general of the Botswana Red Cross Society, Mr Kutlwano Mukokomani thanked BIHL Trust for its continued support of humanitarian efforts.

He said the donation was not the first, as the Trust had previously contributed P40 000 worth of groceries, second hand clothing, and toiletries, which was a donation from the BIHL Trust staff.

“To the BIHL Trust, your partnership with us is a testament to the power of corporate social responsibility and the impact that can be made when organisations come together for the greater good,” said Mr Mukokomani.

The BRCS affirmed that a part of the donation would go to the Kgatleng District, one of the hardest-hit regions.

Also, 100 households will be provided with a once-off cash assistance of P1 500.

Additionally, 100 schoolchildren will be assisted with school essentials while P3 000 vouchers will be given to 75 households to rebuild their homes.

Through this initiative, BRCS hopes to impact 275 households and help 1 285 individuals.
