Africa-Press – Botswana. President Advocate Duma Boko left for Las Vegas on Wednesday to participate at the De Beers Annual Jewelers Circular Keystone (JCK), Trade Show from June 4 to 10.

The show, considered the world’s largest jewelry trade event, was first held in 1992 and continues to provide global jewelry trade community the prime platform for business growth by uniting the industry to buy, sell, network, learn and discover jewelry value chain.

A press release from the Office of the President states that the show attracts over 30 000 stakeholders, buyers, and industry influencers.

President Boko’s participation at the event will be an opportunity to amplify Botswana’s diamonds for development story, says the release.

It also says that the President will address the jewelry trade community affirming Botswana’s role, not only as one of the world’s most important sources of natural diamonds, but also as a storyteller in luxury and sustainability; a narrative that blends origin, ethics, and excellence in Botswana’s diamond adventure. The release says JCK offers a platform for Botswana to market natural diamonds.

The theme for this year’s event is: Decades, Celebrating Jewelry and Fashion Styles from Different Eras. From Las Vegas, President Duma Boko will proceed to New York, to give a keynote address at the annual World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) Dinner on June 10 and thereafter, travel to Budapest, Hungary, to meet with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Dr Viktor Orbán, from June 12 to 15.

The release says the meeting between the two leaders will discuss issues of international mutual concern and areas earmarked to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Boko is accompanied by Minister of Minerals and Energy, Ms Bogolo Kenewendo and senior government officials.

The President and his delegation are expected back in Gaborone on June 16. Meanwhile, Vice President Ndaba Gaolathe will assume the role of Acting President.
