Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana and Luxembourg have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the financial services sector, reinforcing economic ties between the two nations.
The agreement was signed on Friday by Botswana’s Vice President and Finance Minister Ndaba Gaolathe and Luxembourg’s Minister of the Grand Duchy, Gilles Roth on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington DC.
It follows Gaolathe’s visit to Luxembourg in March 2025 during which discussions on deepening financial collaboration took place.
The Botswana government said in a statement that the MoU establishes a framework for mutual exchange of information on financial sector trends, regulatory alignment and investment activities.
The agreement also outlines provisions for joint seminars, training programmes for executives in financial institutions and central banks, and virtual learning initiatives on key financial topics.
It also supports exchanges involving financial delegations between Botswana and Luxembourg, and facilitates analytical studies, policy briefs and technical papers to advance cooperation in financial services.
