Africa-Press – Botswana. The Vice President and Minister of Finance, Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, received a courtesy call from the Ambassador of Ukraine to Botswana, H.E. Dr. Oleksiy Syvak. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for collaboration between the two countries.
Ambassador Syvak highlighted that Ukraine established its Embassy in Botswana approximately one and a half years ago. He expressed satisfaction with progress in deepening engagement since its opening, noting that the Embassy has facilitated investment and exploratory missions by Ukrainian digital and technology experts. These experts held productive discussions with the Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and Technology and the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC).
Vice President Gaolathe welcomed the discussions and expressed interest in structured cooperation frameworks. He noted that Botswana is open to initiatives involving technical exchanges, private-sector collaboration, university partnerships, and Ukraine’s participation in national innovation and agricultural platforms.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. They agreed that continued dialogue would help identify viable programmes and investment opportunities for mutual benefit. The meeting concluded with mutual appreciation and a shared undertaking to accelerate efforts toward formalising areas of cooperation between Botswana and Ukraine.
The engagement signals a growing focus on innovation, technology, and investment as core areas of Botswana-Ukraine collaboration, highlighting both countries’ intent to build long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
