A trio of young chess players returned to Botswana yesterday at 1900 hrs via SSKIA, after boldly representing the country at an international tournament in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Their participation reflects dedication, skill, and the growing presence of Botswana in global chess.
The athletes’ performances were as follows:
Under 8 Open: Vanya Kael Kaboyaone scored 4.5/11, finishing 117th out of 150 with a performance rating of 1389.
Under 10 Girls: Atang Ame Fidzani scored 2/11, finishing 113th out of 115 with a performance rating of 1071.
Under 10 Open: Amour Kaboyaone scored 4.5/11, finishing 145th out of 185. He achieved a performance rating of 1553 and an international rating of 1536, gaining 6 Elo points.
Competing against some of the world’s best young players, the athletes displayed courage and determination. Each game provided valuable experience, contributing to their growth and future potential in the sport.
