The Government of Botswana has officially announced the retirement of Ms Emmah Peloetletse from the Public Service, effective 31 March 2026, marking the conclusion of an exceptional career spanning over thirty-six years. Ms Peloetletse served as Permanent Secretary to the President, Secretary to Cabinet, and Head of the Public Service from September 2021, a period that coincided with critical transitions in the country’s governance. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in ensuring continuity and stability while facilitating the orderly transition to the UDC-led Government. Her leadership maintained adherence to constitutional processes and reinforced confidence in public institutions, highlighting her ability to navigate complex political and administrative challenges. A highly experienced professional in Public Finance Management, Ms Peloetletse previously held the position of Accountant General for over ten years, where she was instrumental in strengthening public financial systems and improving accountability frameworks across Government ministries and agencies. Her expertise in financial oversight ensured efficient management of public resources and contributed to greater transparency and fiscal responsibility within the national administration. At the time of her retirement, she held the position of Chairperson at Debswana Diamond Mining Company, one of Botswana’s most strategic economic entities.
