Africa-Press – Botswana. The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) has elected its new board members following the elections held on October 25, 2025. The elected officials will steer the committee’s efforts in advancing sports development and preparing athletes for major international competitions.
The new leadership team includes:
Mr. Tshepo G Sitale, President
Mr. Mthamdazo Michael Moroka, Senior Vice President
Ms. Tebo Segaise, Vice President
Ms. Game Mompe, 2nd Vice President
Mr. Boikobo Gaolebalwe, Additional Member
Mr. Kebalebile RaMontsho, Additional Member
Mr. Ofentse Bakwadi, Additional Member
BNOC Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Dorothy Tlagae-Gaseitsewe, formally introduced the board members to Honourable Jacob Kelebeng, who extended congratulations on behalf of the Ministry executives. “No one won but the sport,” Kelebeng remarked, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the elections.
The BNOC focuses on developing elite athletes to compete successfully at the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. Upcoming events include the 4th African Youth Games scheduled for December 10–20, 2025, in Luanda, Angola, and the LA2028 Olympic Games from July 14–30, 2028, in the United States. The new board is tasked with enhancing preparations for these major competitions.
During the meeting, discussions included the recently passed Anti-Doping Bill, 2025 (Bill No. 18 of 2025), which establishes the National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) as the principal regulatory body on anti-doping in Botswana. The legislation will support collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs to raise awareness and curb illicit drug use among athletes.
The board also addressed grassroots sports development. Consensus was reached on reviving the Out of School Programme, reviewing the constituency league programme, and enabling federations to manage out-of-school activities. The BNOC was called upon to support federations in extending their reach, particularly in rural areas.
President Sitale announced the launch of the Olympic Solidarity Programme (2025–2028), which will benefit fourteen athletes, including ten males and four females. The programme aims to provide training, resources, and exposure to strengthen Botswana’s representation in international sports.
The BNOC was further tasked with implementing the Ministry of Sport and Arts strategy, aligning activities with National Development Plan 12, and contributing to the development of the Sport and Recreation Act Bill. The new board’s leadership is expected to enhance sports governance, athlete development, and community engagement across Botswana.
