BOTSWANA RECEIVES INVITE TO SEOUL SUMMIT

Africa-Press – Botswana. President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has been furnished with an invitation to the South Korea/Africa summit slated for Seoul next year.

South Korean president’s special envoy, Mr Jang Sung-Min delivered the invitation Sunday during a courtesy call on President Masisi on the sidelines of the just-ended 36th African Union summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Mr Sung-Min said the invitation would further entrench existing bilateral relations between South Korea and Botswana dating back to 1968.

“South Korea has realised that the long standing relationship between our two nations has not been stretched to the potential it has.

“Please Your Excellency, visit South Korea next year and attend the Korea/Africa summit where we can have talks and design our next 55 years together,” he said.

In response, President Masisi commended South Korea for the cordial relations existing between the two nations.

He also applauded South Korea for doing extremely well in its development trajectory over the years ‘thanks to the willpower and determination of its people’.

Dr Masisi said Botswana had borrowed a leaf from South Korea’s never say die attitude and incorporated the mindset change aspect in the Reset Agenda.
