Africa-Press – Botswana. In preparation for the country’s 56th Independence celebrations, the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sports and Culture has announced its official planned activities.

According to a statement released this afternoon, this year’s Independence Day celebrations will be commemorated under the theme ‘Reviving hope: COVID-19 and beyond’.

Planned activities will start with a church service at the Limkokwing University Hall on Sunday.

On Friday, there will be a virtual art exhibition to be hosted at the National Museum and Art Gallery. The pre-celebrations will continue on September 27 with President Mokgweetsi Masisi giving a public lecture on ‘Democracy, peace and good governance an attribute to development and nation-building’ at the University of Botswana.

On the eve of Independence Day, there will be a fun night at the national stadium scheduled as ‘Independence eve and fireworks’.

The main celebration will take place the next day at the National Stadium through all-day fun-filled activities. As is tradition, a game of ball on the pitch will be a must-have, marking the end of Independence celebrations with a match between Zebras and Namibia.
