Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana participated prominently at the recently concluded Africa Financial Services Investment Conference (AFSIC) 2025, led by Vice President Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe. The delegation included the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), the Botswana High Commission, and the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE).
The two-day event provided a platform for strategic partnerships and investment opportunities. Vice President Gaolathe presented 14 bankable projects under the Botswana Economic Transformation Plan (BETP) during the Botswana Country Summit, branded as “The Botswana Deal Room.” His presentation targeted financial investors, highlighting sectors with high potential for sustainable growth.
Following the summit, Ms. Naledi Madala from the Ministry of Finance led an interactive panel discussion. She outlined the BETP’s objectives, explaining how Botswana is tackling key economic challenges while aligning initiatives with government policy. The session provided investors with a clear understanding of Botswana’s economic direction and investment framework.
The BSE Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Aupa Monyatsi, focused on positioning Botswana as a strategic partner for dual listings. He highlighted opportunities for collaboration with global stock exchanges, including the London Stock Exchange, Euronext, and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, to attract capital inflows and increase Botswana’s profile as an investment hub in Africa.
BITC Director of International Business, Ms. Malebogo Kote, presented Botswana as a growing financial services hub. She emphasized the advantages of operating under the Botswana International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) framework, highlighting the country’s regulatory stability, investor-friendly policies, and strategic location.
Botswana’s delegation also showcased five private sector companies and government parastatal project promoters during the Quickfire 60-second pitch session. The session allowed participants to present investment-ready projects directly to prospective investors, increasing visibility and engagement.
The country engaged in business-to-business meetings, including bilateral discussions with international counterparts. A notable meeting took place with a delegation from Mauritius, led by Dr. Jyoti Jeetun, Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning, discussing potential collaborative investment opportunities.
Botswana’s presence at AFSIC 2025 reinforced the country’s position as a strategic investment destination, highlighting the government’s commitment to economic transformation and private sector growth.
