Africa-Press – Botswana. The Office of the First Lady hosted the second national Thanksgiving ceremony this Sunday at Bible Life Ministries, continuing an agreement established last year with churches across Botswana to make the event an annual tradition. The initiative, led by First Lady Kaone Boko, aims to bring together religious leaders and the broader community in a spirit of gratitude and hope.
The ceremony will run from 1 pm to 5 pm, providing a dedicated time for worship, reflection, and prayer. Its main purpose is to thank God for the blessings received over the past year and seek guidance and favor for the year ahead.
Prophet Boago Ramogapi of Royal Assembly Ministries said the event strengthens faith in communities and reinforces a collective commitment to shared values. This year’s ceremony stands out for its broad representation of Botswana’s diverse Christian community. Leaders from evangelical, Pentecostal, and other denominations will participate, highlighting both religious diversity and collaboration in celebrating national spirituality.
High-profile government officials are confirmed to attend, including President Advocate Duma Boko, Vice President Ndaba Gaolatlhe, and Gaborone Mayor Oarabile Motlaleng. Several government ministers will also be present, reflecting strong state support for the initiative. Their attendance underscores the event’s role as a key national occasion that bridges religious and political spheres.
Prophet Ramogapi, speaking for the organising committee, emphasised that the national Thanksgiving ceremony is a collective expression of gratitude to God, coordinated by the First Lady’s office with participating churches nationwide. The event serves as a platform to unite the nation spiritually, fostering hope and faith as the country moves into a new year.
The establishment of this annual ceremony follows discussions between the Office of the First Lady and church leaders last year, who agreed on the importance of having a formal occasion dedicated to thanksgiving. The event continues to grow as a symbol of national unity and spiritual reflection.
