Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana’s national youth chess team is in Zimbabwe for the 16th African Youth Chess Championship, running from December 6 to 14. The event brings together top young talent from across Africa, providing a platform to develop skills, gain international experience, and compete at a high level.

Botswana’s squad includes players across multiple age categories. In the Under-8 category, the team features Saishanvi Reddy Nalamalpu, Morena Mokefane, and Rhea Lekoape. These young players will face their peers from other African nations, showcasing early talent and strategic thinking.

The Under-10 team consists of Ngwao Keoletile, Cherillath Kandamangalam, Atang Amen Fidzani, Paul Peloentle-Bayani, and Rethabile Pitso. They are expected to bring a combination of skill, determination, and teamwork to the competition.

Botswana’s Under-12 representatives are Onthatile Maruatona, Abrar Quadsia Toor, and Karla Makgabana. These players have shown strong performances in local competitions and aim to gain valuable international exposure in Zimbabwe.

In the Under-14 category, the team includes Adeola Moshoboro, Eesha Reddy Nalamalpu, Omaatla Mogwere, Keaboka Cleo Rankwane, Gouthum Babu Suresh, and Wu Zeyin. This group combines strategic expertise and experience from previous tournaments, making them strong contenders.

The Under-16 team features Laone Moshoboro and Noor Fatima Toor, both known for their tactical skills and analytical ability. Their participation highlights Botswana’s commitment to developing young chess talent at higher competitive levels.

In the Under-18 category, Botswana is represented by Natalie Banda, Romeo Oabile, and Darius Banda. These players bring maturity and advanced strategic thinking to the tournament, aiming to achieve top rankings and inspire younger team members.
