Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana’s Domestic Companies Index (DCI) is poised to register its best annual performance since 2013, demonstrating an impressive 15% surge in share prices this year. This revitalizing turnaround is led by sectors such as tourism, banking, and finance, marking a stark contrast to the declining trends of previous years, which included an 11.3% dip in 2018 and an 8.3% fall in 2020, largely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leading Performers Fueling Growth

The growth is primarily fueled by companies like Chobe Holdings, showcasing a remarkable 88.6% increase, Standard Chartered Bank Botswana with a 77.7% surge, Seedco at 30%, Absa Botswana at 22.1%, and First National Bank Botswana at 21.7%. These companies have significantly contributed to the upswing, fortifying the DCI’s upward trajectory.

Public Assistance for Prisoner Rehabilitation

Alongside the financial news, the call for public assistance in rehabilitating prisoners and implementation of an integrated prison security solution has been made. The success of these initiatives is underscored as heavily reliant on the combined efforts of all stakeholders, encapsulating a broader narrative of social responsibility amidst economic growth.
