Africa-Press – Botswana. With necessary and adequate resources, brigades as major ingredient in government’s pursuit of multiple pathways, will produce industry-ready graduates who will also create employment opportunities.
Kgatleng Brigade principal, Mr Paul Mosimanegape said this when briefing Mochudi West Member of Parliament, Mr Mmusi Kgafela recently.
“Government should provide necessary resources to brigades in order for them to produce shrewd graduates. Government should reconsider revisiting the Education and Training Sector Strategic Plan of Botswana that was not fully implemented during its plan period of 2015 to 2020,” Mr Mosimanegape said.
On other issues, Mr Mosimanegape said there was need to relocate the centre to a place outside the village where students could learn without distraction.
Other challenges the brigade was faced with, he said, included inadequate staff, shortage of transport and dilapidated buildings.
For his part, MP Kgafela explained that his visit was meant to appreciate their challenges, accomplishments as well as to familiarise himself with the institution’s daily operations.
“I am here to get first-hand information of where you want your systems to improve,” he said.
Mr Kgafela also appreciated the programmes offered at the facility and encouraged instructors to do more with the resources at their disposal.
Mochudi Brigade offers, among other courses, carpentry and joinery, dressmaking, bricklaying and plastering, welding and fabrication as well as electrical installation.
