Africa-Press – Botswana. Walk of Hope founder and director, Ms Theriso Motsumi-Motsemeng, has been appointed as the Botswana lead for Business Engage NPC South Africa.
Business Engage is an innovative organization leading the way in strategic gender mainstreaming within the private sector.
Speaking during the launch of the Business Engage NPC 12th Gender Mainstreaming Awards Ceremony in Gaborone, the CEO of Business Engage, Ms Coleen Larsen, highlighted Ms Motsumi-Motsemeng’s exceptional leadership in her work.
Ms Motsumi-Motsemeng was honoured for her outstanding contributions, having won four Awards in the 11th Gender Mainstreaming Awards from over 1000 nominees in Southern Africa. She achieved the top position for both the Botswana Region and the General Sector.
Additionally, she was recognised in the Top 4 for the Disability Award, as well as the Top 6 and Top 12 for the positive role model Award.
Ms Larsen praised Ms Motsumi-Motsemeng’s work for attracting the attention of numerous local and international NGOs.
Business Engage aims to foster the growth of both men and women-owned businesses, thereby contributing to the economy and addressing unemployment. The organisation encourages both men and women to participate in business growth competitions. Ms Larsen emphasised that their operations were based on three pillars, collaborate, engage, and build.
Furthermore, Business Engage seeks to collaborate with numerous businesses, engage stakeholders, and build connections to promote gender inclusivity in business across Africa.
Notably, the Vodacom 12th Gender Mainstreaming Awards will be held on October 31, 2024, in South Africa, with the semi-final scheduled to take place in Botswana in July this year.
The categories for awards include Women on boards, Women on Executive Committees in Multinationals, Equal representation and participation award, Women empowerment in the workplace award, Economic empowerment award, Mainstreaming gender and disability award, Women empowerment in the community, Investing in young women, Gender Reporting by JSE listed companies, Positive Role Model, Inclusive Leader Awards, and RMB Africa’s Fearless Thinker Award. Ms Larsen encourages businesspersons to participate.
