Africa-Press – Botswana. Minister of International Relations, Dr Phenyo Butale has undertaken a working visit to Belarus from June 30 to July 3.
A media statement from the ministry states that Dr Butale has been invited by Bekarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Maxim Vladimirovich Ryzhenkov.
“While in Belarus, Dr Butale will hold bilateral talks with his counterpart to explore areas for enhanced bilateral cooperation between Botswana and Belarus, such as in the agricultural, engineering, and education sectors,” it reads.
It further states that Dr Butale is also expected to meet with the deputy prime minister of Belarus, Mr Viktor Karankevich, as well as other senior government officials.
Also, it says he will have the opportunity to tour major industrial installations, including mining operations and tractor assembly plants, with the aim of ascertaining potential areas of collaboration and knowledge exchange between Botswana and Belarus.
According to the release, Botswana and Belarus established diplomatic relations in March 2006 and the two countries cooperate in various fields, including e-Governance.
