Africa-Press – Botswana. Chema Chema Fund uptake in Kgatleng is steadily increasing, Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) Mochudi branch manager, Ms Lovey Moraope has said.

Briefing Kgatleng District Leadership Forum meeting on April 16, Ms Moraope said since introduction, LEA had received 1 363 walk-ins for inquires, while registrations submitted as at April 16 stood at 463.

She said LEA had started visiting some villages in Kgatleng East, to cover the river villages so that no one was left behind.

Ms Moraope also stated that LEA intended to reach out to other Kgatleng residents at Oodi Service Centre and would conduct outreach activities around the district to maximise registration.

“We want to be visible where there are a lot of people especially where the district is conducting some activities,” she said urging the district leadership to encourage residents to register.

She noted that there was no need to congest registration points since there was no deadline.

Challenges experienced, she said included inadequate resources and registration agents during commencement, overwhelmed system, registration influx and that some residents were misinformed about the fund.

Ms Maraope also encouraged Bakgatla to utilise online registration to avoid long queues and stampede at physical registration points.
