Africa-Press – Botswana. On September 10, 2025, H.E. Mr. Fan Yong, Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, paid a courtesy call to Hon. Ketlhalefile Motshegwa, Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, to exchange views on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Fan stated that China and Botswana have achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation over the 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, with Chinese enterprises and China’s aid projects making significant contributions to Botswana social development. China is willing to strengthen exchanges on development experiences with Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, enhance people-to-people exchanges and deepen cooperation areas, to better benefit the peoples of both countries.
Hon. Minister Motshegwa expressed gratitude for China’s long-term support for Botswana social development, noting that China has a large population, strong economic strength, and advanced sci-tech innovation. Botswana hopes to learn from China’s development experience and promote pragmatic cooperation in various areas such as poverty reduction, infrastructure, science and technology, and industrialization.
