Africa-Press – Botswana. To enhance education through the Adopt-A -School initiative, Chobe Game Lodge has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Liswaani Junior Secondary School in Kachikau and Kavimba Primary School.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in Kasane on Wednesday, Chobe Game Lodge general manager, Mr Johan Bruwer, said the MoU intended to formalise their partnership with the two schools having supported the schools on different projects over the years.

He said through the partnership, the lodge committed to pave Kavimba Primary School assembly area at a value of P130 000, buy photocopying papers, sponsor excellence awards, support the school’s environmental awareness programmes including tours of the Chobe National Park.

He said they would buy Liswaani Junior Secondary School mattresses for its boarding learners, supply 90 boxes of photocopying paper, sponsor excellence awards and support environmental awareness programmes.

He said their business performed financially well, hence fitting that they invested in education to touch the lives of children whose parents were also employees of the lodge.

“Giving children a good education is at the core of our values and we want to nurture and shape them for a brighter future.”

Mr Bruwer said the lodge was running an eco-friendly and e-Mobility programme intended to advocate for sustainable tourism, adding that children would learn a lot and be inspired by this programme.

The general manager pointed out that the MoU would strengthen ties between the education sector, community and the lodge.

Further, he said the partnership would create a nurturing and supportive environment for learning and growth through environmental education and career guidance for learners.

Chobe regional education acting director, Mr Bafentse Peter expressed gratitude to the lodge for their generosity.

He said the partnership would contribute to education as it extended interactions beyond the classrooms to Chobe National Park for environmental awareness experiences.

“We believe that the MoU shall enhance the learning environment and inspire learners to excel and explore careers in tourism.”

Mr Peter said private partnership with the education sector was vital in shaping academic standards.

He said partnership in education was an investment in the future of Botswana’s young and innovative minds.
