Africa-Press – Botswana. Kgosi Tshupegetso Bontsibokae of Matlapana has applauded Chobe Holdings management for their commitment to support the growth of small and medium entrepreneurs in the North West region.
He made the remarks during a graduation ceremony held at Sedie hotel recently, appreciating the company’s generous sponsorship of a skills development course which he said was a vital investment in the future of the community.
Through their initiative, Maun Business Collective, Chobe Holdings in collaboration with Barefoot Business company offered a transformative business training through which 17 local entrepreneurs were equipped with essential business skills for a period of six months.
Participants were trained on leadership, marketing and sales, financial management, compliance, team motivation and long term strategic business planning to ensure their businesses not only grew but also thrived in a collaborative and sustainable way. By providing such opportunity, Kgosi Bontsibokae said the company was investing and empowering entrepreneurs to reach their full potential and contribute even more to the region’s economic prosperity.
“We are deeply grateful to Chobe Holdings support towards building a brighter future for our local entrepreneurs who are the driving force behind economic growth and prosperity. Entrepreneurs are innovators, risk takers, the visionaries who turn ideas into reality and they are the back bone of our economy, creating jobs, fostering innovation and driving progress and we should support them,” he added.
Kgosi Bontsibokae stressed the need to create an environment where entrepreneurship thrived, where innovation flourished and where every individual had an opportunity to excel.
One of the participants, Ms Thitaku Kushonya who is a champion of basket weaving in Botswana, thanked the company and the facilitators for uplifting the spirit of entrepreneurship among them citing that the skills they acquired would be embedded in their daily operations and eventually bringing real change. She encouraged fellow participants to apply what they had learnt for their businesses to grow and change the way they had been doing things.
Chobe Holdings chief executive officer, Mr John Gibson said business was about making mistakes and being resilient and carrying on, as such motivating participants to learn from their mistakes and turn challenges into opportunities. He also stated that the company was committed towards developing a vibrant economy in the northern Botswana where it was rooted to benefit the community.
“At Chobe Holdings we believe in investing in the community, wildlife and the country and we have to remain true to that. We have projects ranging from schools, the community and now Maun Business Collective aims to unlock entrepreneurs’ potential and tackle challenges,” he added.
The initiative addresses the fundamental strengths and weaknesses of small and medium entrepreneurs with a view to rejuvenate their businesses and help it to grow.
