CONSTRUCTION OF DISTRICT HOSPITAL STARTS OFF END OF YEAR

Africa-Press – Botswana. Letlhakane residents have welcomed the district hospital to be built during the Transitional National Development Plan (TNDP) period through the development manager model.

The residents expressed their gratitude following the announcement by the Member of Parliament for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe when addressing a kgotla meeting in the village recently.

Mr Lelatisitswe said the district hospital would have 100 staff houses and would be build by K-Hill Consortium, adding that construction was scheduled for end of this year.

One of the residents, Mr Moatlhodi Ketshabetswe, appreciated the hospital, saying they were accessing services as far as the Nyangabwe Referral Hospital.

Another resident, Mr Baikgasi Mpala, was grateful that there were many projects earmarked for Letlhakane, but expressed concern that a sewerage reticulation system was not included. In response, Mr Lelatisitswe said a sewerage reticulation system for Letlhakane was included in National Development Plan 12.

He also said 667 plots would be allocated in Letlhakane in May, adding that they could be allocating 1 600 plots, but that land board authorities failed to identify the owners of 1 000 farms.

Mr Lelatisitswe advised residents to align their Chema Chema Fund business ideas with projects taking place in their village.

He urged the residents to elevate their livelihoods and economic status by applying for the fund, saying there were a lot of opportunities and market for small businesses.

Mr Lelatisitswe told the residents that the construction of Letlhakane internal roads, storm water drainage as well as solar street lights would be done by Bothakga Burrow.
