Africa-Press – Botswana. Following her appointment as Specially Elected Member of Parliament (SEMP) and subsequently being elevated to the position of Assistant Minister for State President, Ms Boitumelo Gofhamodimo has officially taken oath of office to resume her duties.
Ms Gofhamodimo takes over as assistant minister from Mr Dumezweni Mthimkhulu, who was elevated to the position of Minister of Environment and Tourism. The duo was sworn-in yesterday at the Office of the President before President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi.
The positions SEMP and Minister of Environment and Tourism became vacant following the appointment of former SEMP and minister, Ms Philda Kereng as Botswana’s Ambassador to Nigeria.
Ms Gofhamodimo and Mr Mthimkhulu affirmed to diligently perform their duties and functions of their offices fully to the satisfaction of the country.
Ms Gofhamodimo also assured the President of her support and advice accordingly. She further vowed to never indirectly or directly reveal business proceedings of cabinet or any other information that came to her knowledge in her capacity as a result of her cabinet post unless required to do so by the President in accordance with the law.
