Africa-Press – Botswana. President Advocate Duma Boko has assured Batswana that the Umbrella for Democratic Change will fulfill its manifesto promises before long.

Speaking at the UDC Mahalapye West Constituency victory celebration on Saturday, the President assured Batswana that the party’s promises still stand saying ‘nothing has changed’. He highlighted that he had set a target of three years to transform the country to a better Botswana in various aspects.

Botswana’s education and health systems, President Boko said, were on the priority list in the transformation agenda. Among other key issues, he also talked about the P1 800 for pensioners, which he said in the near future would be attained.

Tertiary students in Botswana were also assured of the promised P2 500 allowance. On another issue, President Boko emphasised government’s commitment to enact the P4 000 minimum wage in the near future. Nonetheless, he applauded people of Mahalapye for having voted in power the Mahalapye West MP, Mr David Tshere as he was a dedicated and trustworthy legislature.

For his part, Mr Tshere said the event was aimed to thank constituents for sending him to Parliament with a high number of votes. He therefore promised to diligently serve them for a better Mahalapye. The Mahalapye West Constituency victory celebration saw performances by prominent musicians such as Charma Gal among others.
