Africa-Press – Botswana. A group of African embassies and high commissions in Botswana yesterday celebrate Africa Day through an exhibition at Travel Lodge.

Celebrated annually on May 25 across the continent, this year’s commemoration is themed: Year of AfCFTA: Accelerating the Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Embassies and high commissions will hold an exhibition to showcase the diverse cultures of African nations by displaying cultural products, literature, crafts, attires and cultural performances, artefacts as well as cuisine

“Africa Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the socio-economic, cultural, heritage and shared values achievements of the continent in the spirit of Pan-Africanism,” said Ambassador of Angola to Botswana also the Dean of the African Group of Heads of Missions Dr Beatriz Morais in an interview.

She said the exhibition would also be a cultural event that would be educational experience for participants.

Furthermore, Dr Morais noted that the adoption of the theme by the African Union will generate greater political commitment and accelerate the effective implementation of the AfCFTA to fully benefit African citizens and achieve the aspirations and goals of the Agenda 2063.
