Africa-Press – Botswana. Emeritus International Reinsurance Company has donated P100 000 to flood victims at St Paul and Boswelakoko wards in Molepolole.

Speaking during the official handing over of the donation recently, Emeritus International board member, Mr Modise Modise said they were equally concerned by the heavy rains that swept across Botswana and the region at large that left many families homeless, some in need while others lost their properties.

Following reports about disaster incidents that befell some members of the community, he said they agreed to come on board hence the donation, adding that it was their first time to donate and believed that it would not be their last.

The area councilor, Mr John Mmadintsi thanked Emeritus International for the good gesture saying the donation would go a long way in helping those affected by the floods.

He also appreciated that in the wake of adversity, they prayed for support and the donor responded positively to their plea in the spirit of humanity and compassion.

He appreciated that Emeritus International had partnered with PR Practice, a dedicated local company and Emeritus International was stepping up to provide much needed donations to families who have been impacted. “This collaboration signifies not just a gesture of support but a promise that we are not alone in these struggles,” he added. Together, he said they were an embodiment of hope, resilience and the strength of the community.

Mr Mmadintsi further noted that 10 families had been identified to benefit from the donation through the help of the social and community development office and promised Emeritus International that they would account to every thebe that had been donated to them.

One of the beneficiaries, Ms Ipelegeng Gaoforwe extended her gratitude toward Emeritus International saying the donation would meet the needs of the beneficiaries.

For his part, Kgosi Motshegetsi Lebang said the donation came at a time when affected families needed help and God made it possible for them to receive a blessing. He commended Emeritus International for their good gesture, which he said would go a long way written in the hearts of the community.

Kgosi Lebang encouraged beneficiaries to take care of what they would be given and use it for the greater good of their lives.
