Africa-Press – Botswana. A group of entrepreneurs with disabilities recently graduated from an intensive entrepreneurship development training programme offered by Local Enterprise Agency (LEA), Norsad Capital and Botswana Council of Disabilities (BCD).

The training programme was intended to empower them to start and grow their businesses.

Three organisations partnered to provide training tailored specifically for entrepreneurs with disabilities.

They were inducted on essential business skills, financial management, marketing and business planning.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, LEA capability development officer, Mr Mompati Baiphethi explained that it was the first group of people with disabilities that they got to work with.

He said 21 entrepreneurs with disabilities graduated from the programme and that another eight were their workers at LEA.

One of the trainers, Mr Justice Majaga said the one-week course challenged attendees on entrepreneurship and to distinguish their personal goals from their business goals.

He said participants received personalised guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals in the field.

One of the graduates, Ms Barati Ramontsho said the programme was life changing and that it had given them the confidence and skills to transform their businesses into success.
