In a joint statement, released Wednesday (12), the European Commission, the WHO and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) say that the Covid-19 pandemic is not over and the numbers of cases have been increasing. rise, “indicating that a new wave has begun” with the arrival of autumn.

Death Of Teenager

A 14-year-old girl died in an intensive care unit in Italy after contracting Covid-19, despite having had three doses of the vaccine, the Italian press reported.

The young woman was admitted to Perrino Hospital in Brindisi, Italy on Saturday around 5:00 am with fever and vomiting. During the night, her health deteriorated and the young woman was transferred to intensive care, where she died.

The girl, vaccinated with all three doses, had tested positive for Covid-19 after a routine test at the hospital. However, it is unknown if she had any previous medical conditions.

“It could have been a syndrome of multiorgan dysfunction, linked to a systemic inflammatory response, that caused the death of the 14-year-old girl in the resuscitation ward of Hospital Perrino in Brindisi,” explained Fulvio Moramarco, director of the pediatric department at Hospital Perrino.

At the moment, investigations are underway to understand what may have caused the death of the teenager.
