Africa-Press – Botswana. The Minister of Environment and Tourism, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi says a few minerals, including energy minerals (uranium, natural gas and petroleum), precious stones and base minerals are being explored in the Xaixai and Qangwa areas.
Answering a question in Parliament recently on behalf of the Minister of Minerals and Energy, the minister said companies have been doing the exploration from as far back as 2010. Most of the prospecting companies, he said, were still at the early stages of exploration but cited Gcwihaba Resources as the only advanced company in the areas, which had reported the discovery of iron ore.
The minister was responding to a question asked by Ngami MP Mr Phillimon Aaron who had asked if there were any minerals that have been explored around Xaixai and Qangwa areas and whether there were any companies given rights to explore the minerals.
