Africa-Press – Botswana. Lobatse based premier league giants, Extension Gunners, have made two draws in a row after a goalless stalemate against Prisons XI at the Molepolole Sport Complex Saturday.

The lukewarm encounter played in blistering heat before a sizeable crowd, was new coach Thabo Motang’s second assignment and the hard to please Mapantsula faithfuls were expecting maximum points following an impressive showing against Morupule Wanderers in Lobatse last weekend.

A lively crowd in the famous eastern stand urged Gunners to storm off the blocks and make their presence felt early on and went close to scoring, but indecisiveness in front of goal cost them.

Lack of composure in front of goal and the disjointed middle field led by former Gaborone United talisman Ofentse Nato added to Gunners woes in the first period.

At the start of the second half, Motang ran a couple of changes pulling out an ineffective Nato and throwing in Kaelo Kgaswane on the far left whose impact was immediately felt.

Prisons linked up well and posed a threat in the second period with their stocky winger Kelello Kgosimore making daunting runs inside the danger area.

Kgosimore was impressive forcing Gunners rear guard to be on the back pedal making a couple of shots and making neat exchanges with Tumo Keiketlile.

The two teams failed to find the back of the net until the end of regulation time.

In a post-match interview, Gunners assistant coach Phenyo Mongala said lack of confidence and mounting pressure weighed heavily on the team.

Mongala said they were working round the clock to make a turnaround of fortunes and would go back to the drawing board.

He said the players were reacting well to instruction and were hopeful of positive changes.

On one hand, Prisons XI coach, Sepheko Motlhagodi said he was impressed by the performance of his team despite not getting the desired result.

Motlhagodi said his boys attacked and defended well to frustrate Gunners attack. The coach had thrown in a couple of under 20 youngsters and maintained a defensive structure to salvage a point.

In other games played over the weekend, Sua Flamingoes cancelled out Thatayaone Kgamanyane’s penalty to deny Gaborone United maximum points in Sowa, Nico United fought back to share spoils with Jwaneng Galaxy, Masitaoka collected maximum points against Morupule Wanderers while Security Systems beat Mogoditshane Fighters 2-0.
