FIRST LADY RECEIVES MISS RADP REPORT

Africa-Press – Botswana. Miss RADP pageant and Mr RADP Fashion Show participants have been urged to mentor their peers and share with them their experiences for them to consider joining the following editions.

First Lady Ms Neo Masisi, who is the pageant patron, made the call after receiving the Miss RADP and Mr RADP Fashion Show report from Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Talita Monnakgotla on December 22.

The report highlights insightful and relatable information about the pageant’s background and preparations at district level and the grand finale. It also captures the plan of action for the next edition of the pageant.

Ms Masisi said the programme aimed to include, empower and develop self-esteem among young people.

“It is, therefore, for this reason that I put a seal by becoming patron of the pageant,” she said.

She applauded the local government and rural development ministry for compiling the report, saying that was a sign of efficient teamwork.

Ms Masisi added that she would establish the return of the programme, particularly because it was an investment on the youth, saying ‘the only way to measure if there is a return is to have some form of measure and to record fully who these young people are and what profiles they have.”

For her part, Ms Monnakgotla said the ministry was working tirelessly to profile finalists for purposes of branding and marketing of RADP.

“The seven RADP districts have already submitted the profiles of the 28 finalists for re-packaging and production in a book format and the project will be presented to the patron and the nation at large by February,” Ms Monnakgotla said.

She added that the project would continue to provide unique opportunity for the participants and the audience to appreciate the impact of RADP on the lives of Batswana in remote area settlements, especially the affirmative action framework for remote area communities.
