Africa-Press – Botswana. Gaborone United (GU) could land their first league championship in 13 years with a win over Jwaneng Galaxy today.

The log leaders meet the reigning champions in a Botswana Premier League tie to be played at the National Stadium this evening. The Reds are just three points away from landing the title with three games to play.

Judging from the team’s season form this is an easier task to achieve. The Reds hammered Galaxy 5-1 in the first round tie away from home. Both sides have four wins in their last five games and it does look like it is going to be a walk in the park for GU.

This evening’s visitors have found form since the start of the second league games and would be looking to spoil the Reds’ party. GU’s head coach, Innocent Morapedi urged his troops to remain stealth in the sight of glory. He said the current squad needs to wrap up this campaign and have their names written in the club’s history.

“Our ambition, we will still keep fighting but we do not want to be pompous. Because this is football, we stated on the first day that we want to have our names written in the GU archives. This is a team that has not won the league in 13 years and for us to stop (the drought) it takes a lot of pressure which I feel we are dealing with nicely,” Morapedi said.

Kick-off is at 6pm but Botswana Television (BTV) will screen a delayed broadcast of the tie at 9pm.
