Africa-Press – Botswana. KAMPALA- President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi was among the Heads of State and Government at the official opening of the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit on Friday.
Uganda President Yoweri Museveni assumed chairmanship of NAM, taking over from Azerbaijan in the three-year rotating chairpersonship. In his acceptance address, General Museveni rallied NAM member states to define priorities that favoured developing countries and drive on the strength of their numbers to influence positions at platforms such as the United Nations. The meeting on Friday adopted the outcomes of the four-day deliberations by senior officials and ministers. The summit ends on Saturday before the start of the 3rd South Summit of the G77+China in Kampala.
