Africa-Press – Botswana. Francistown High Court Judge, Justice Taboka Slave has lauded the Glamour Boys and Girls Sporting Club for its charitable work.

She said this when officiating the club’s handover of over P5 000 worth of toiletry to the less-privileged pupils at Tagala Primary School in Francistown recently.

“Let me congratulate you for your charitable work. It is my hope that you will someday look back and realise you have made a difference in the lives of the less privileged,” she said, also commending all the clubs that had participated in the sporting activities that were organised as part of fund-raising activities.

Charitable work according to Justice Slave is a demonstration of love and helps inculcate a sense of responsibility on the beneficiary to reciprocate in future.

She called on the Glamour Boys and Girls sporting club members to continue with their benevolent spirit and inspire other social clubs to respond to the plight of the downtrodden.

The Mayor of Francistown, Mr Godisang Radisigo echoed Justice Slave’s sentiments and challenged the school management to avail sporting facilities to teams that engaged in noble works.

He commended the teachers for their gallant work of moulding leaders of tomorrow amid many challenges facing them.

“It is my conviction also that laws must be formulated in this country that will demand companies setting up to undertake corporate social responsibility,” he said.

Social Clubs representative, Mr Moses Poloko dispelled myths held by some that social clubs were unruly entities that peddled mischief.

“Not only are were a principled lot, but we have also demonstrated our worth in the society beyond a reasonable doubt,” he said.

Tagala school head, Mr Law Maphane had earlier heaped praises upon Glamour Boys and Girls sporting club for having chosen his school amongst the beneficiaries of its charitable work.

Club president, Mr Thabo Nyambe was happy that they had in collaboration with other social clubs managed to engage in fund-raising tournaments to change the lives of the pupils.
