Africa-Press – Botswana. Miss Botswana 2025 2nd princess Girly Kookilwe who doubles up as the Miss World Tourism Botswana has vowed to spread her wings and aim for the stars when she embarks on voyage to compete at the global stage.
Recently,Kookilwe was appointed as Miss World Tourism Botswana and now she is set to represent Botswana on the international stage wearing the tourism hat at China for the Miss World Tourism. The competition is slated for September 12 to October 5th.
In an interview with Arts & Culture, Kookilwe who is not a stranger to pageantry explained that she would do what it takes to leave an everlasting mark for Botswana on a global stage.
“My target is to really represent Botswana with excellence and showcase our culture proudly and form lasting partnerships that will benefit tourism in our country,” Kookilwe said.
As Botswana is mostly associated with tourism after diamonds, which are now plummeting, Kookilwe said the ball is now in her court to ensure that she sells Botswana to the world.
“By promoting Botswana’s cultural tourism, wildlife safaris and heritage sites as alternative attractions, creating opportunities for stronger tourism and cultural exchanges between our country and other nations,” she said.
Furthermore, Kookilwe said she will not only rave about the tourism attractions in Botswana but will ‘plug’ them with some of those sites which include the famous Okavanago Delta and Makgadikgadi Pans.
With the country now focusing on diversification of the tourism sector, she said she would not only focus on tourism attractions but display to them what humanity is.
“I will represent the country by embodying humility, respect, kindness and the spirit of Botho which defines us as Batswana. This will be through storytelling, engaging with international platforms to highlight our traditions,” she said.
On a personal note, Kookilwe said the opportunity would contribute immensely to her life both on a personal and professional level.
“This experience will challenge me, build my confidence, grow my international network and strengthen my voice as an advocate for tourism and culture,” she said.
