LESASO COMMENDS ADVENTIST CHURCH

Africa-Press – Botswana. Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development Mr Aubrey Lesaso has commended Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church for allowing youth to benefit from the Pathfinder Club through the honour and crafts programme.

Mr Lesaso said the Pathfinder Club was an important initiative under the SDA Church and if taken seriously could change the lives of the youth who were facing many challenges.

Mr Lesaso said this when officially opening the SDA-Pathfinders Club youth camp in Serowe on Wednesday, where close to 1 000 pathfinders from Northern Botswana converged at Charles Kabelo’s Farm.

He said at the moment his ministry was inundated with several incidents of unruly behaviour in different schools across the country and he was optimistic that if the Pathfinder Club attracted more youth the situation would subside.

The Pathfinder Club is a department of the SDA, which focuses on the cultural, social and religious education of children and teens.

The church-centred spiritual-recreational-activity programme is designed for young people aged 10 to 15 and with the skills imparted to them, young people are able to carry on the work of the church and win others to Jesus.

Mr Lesaso, therefore, encouraged the Pathfinder Club members to take the teachings seriously in order to have a bright future.

He said it was important for children to grow up knowing God, saying what they were taught as children had a way of manifesting in their lives as they grew older. Pastor Pulo Thapelo said that Pathfinder Club was a community club some of whose members were not members of the SDA Church.

“They are just members of the club that runs under the SDA Church”, he said.

He, therefore, encouraged schools to open doors to the Pathfinder Club so that many pupils could benefit from their teachings.

Pastor Thapelo said Pathfinder covered all aspects that had to do with morality of a human being and he appealed to parents to let their children join the Pathfinders.

“We are not saying they should come and join SDA Church, but they should come and benefit from our teachings,” he said.
