Africa-Press – Botswana. Letshego Botswana has entered into a tripartite partnership with Botswana Television (Btv) and Horizon Media Guide to provide unique opportunities for growing Botswana’s micro and small entrepreneurs in the arts recreation and entertainment industry sector.

The partnership saw Letshego Botswana sponsoring the popular Btv’s ‘The Eye programme’ with P4 million over a period of a year. Speaking during the launch of the sponsorship in Gaborone on Thursday, the Regional Director for Botswana, Lesotho and eSwatini, Mr Kgotso Bannalotlhe, said this strategic partnership and sponsorship was aimed to provide unique opportunities and development in the arts sector for both local and international consumption that were decimated by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the sponsorship deal reflected Letshego Botswana strategic intent to collaborate and build robust relationships that would allow them to support individuals and micro and small enabling their customers to reap tangible value and increased benefits from the financial support they get from Letshego Botswana.

Mr Bannalotlhe said as Letshego celebrated another milestone of 25 years, the company had remained committed to its purpose to improve lives for customers and the communities across Letshego Group’s 11-country footprint, increasing financial inclusion and delivering a positive social impact in whichever areas feasible. He said Letshego would continue with the commitment well into the future.

He said a key aspect of the sponsorship was that over the year, Letshego Botswana would develop and record 52 episodes of The Eye programme that would be aired on Botswana Television 1’s (Btv1) evening prime time slot every week.

Mr Bannalotlhe said the sponsorship package also included developing and featuring 26 LetsGo Financial Wellness episodes on Btv’s Channel 290 and Botswana Television 2 (Btv2) would teach Batswana various financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing.

For his part the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Aupa Monyatsi, said Letshego was an inclusive financial services group whose vision was to become a world class retail financial services group. He said that Letshego started as a small company known as machonisa but had since grown into a regional company with a strong presence in 11 countries across Africa.

He said Letshego intended to occupy and dominate the vacuum that was unoccupied by First tier banks across the entire continent. He reiterated that the LetsGo Financial Wellness would educate the public on practical ways to utilise their hard-earned funds for productive purposes such as housing, education, healthcare or starting a small business or a side hustle to gain additional income to generate wealth and progress their dreams.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Services of State President, Mr Oshinka Tsiang, hailed the partnership, saying many would benefit not only from the ‘Eye Programme’ but as well from the LetsGo financial wellness.

For his part, the Lead Consultant of Horizon Guide Media and the Eye Presenter, Mr Omphile Sehurutshe, said the Eye Programme would be enhanced by the sponsorship.

He said he appreciated the sponsorship, saying it indirectly contributed to job creation for many youth employed by content creator businesses, from actors and actresses to costume designers, lighting and stage crews, and other technical support teams.

Horizon Guide Media, is a local youth citizen-owned company based in Gaborone and has been appointed by the Department of Broadcasting Services to partner with Letshego Botswana to produce current affairs content jointly with local producers and film experts to tailor make film and video production solutions for Batswana.
