Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Letswapo region has endorsed President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi as the party’s presidential candidate.
Addressing the delegates from the three constituencies of Palapye, Tswapong North and Tswapong South in Tumasera/Seleka on Saturday, BDP chairperson, Mr Slumber Tsogwane urged them to work together and not make the mistake they made in 2019 of voting for an opposition candidate in Sefhare/Ramokgonami constituency.
Mr Tsogwane said BDP members should work hard to lure new and old members into the party so that the party could retain the seat it lost in the 2019 general elections.
Therefore, he urged members to support and elect the party’s parliamentary and council candidates during the general elections.
He also urged BDP members not to be tricked by opposition parties whose main focus was to oppose the party’s good programmes without coming up with solutions.
Again, he appealed democrats to sell their party programmes which aimed to improve the lives of Batswana.
He added that BDP members should know the policies that the party had made that continued to improve the lives of Batswana as well as its strategies to develop the country.
“You should not be party members who do not know their constitution. You should teach it to new members,” he said.
He indicated that when the country attained its independence, poverty and lack of development especially in the rural areas were high and through implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) the BDP managed to develop rural areas.
He pointed out that Batswana depended on farming and improvement of agriculture sector had become the priority in the development of the country hence President Masisi’s efforts to improve livestock.
He appealed to Batswana to vote for the BDP because it had good programmes that could benefit them.
Letswapo regional chairperson, Mr Bofelo Kgaodi appreciated the developments in the Tswapong area such as water supply, roads construction especially the Dibete-Machaneng road.
He said such developments had made a difference in their area.
He however requested government to expand the Palapye Primary Hospital because it was small and crowded or build a new hospital in Palapye.
