Africa-Press – Botswana. Batswana artistes shone brightest over international acts at the 4th edition of Leteise on Fleek showcase at Bojanala Waterfront on Saturday.

The event fielded a star studded line up both locally and from South Africa, with the likes of Kabelo ‘Scavenger’ Tiro, Han C, Banjo Mosele, Khoi San as well as Djs Frostbite, Lefatshe, Felly-T and from across the border Simmy, Donald, Blaq Diamond, Afrotraction and Johnny Mokhali among others.

Also in the line-up was legendary DJ Fresh whose set was mellow and laid back as he charmed the afternoon vibes for the audience, taking them back memory lane with some afro souls and completing the set with a little up tempo of old school kwaito favourites.

Another legend, Johnny Mokhali, still a force in the music space, captured the hearts of the fleekers with his Setswana timeless classical renditions. He continues to somehow gain new fans as his music remains timelessly unchallenged.

Afrotraction, also from South Africa took to stage with what could have been an opening performance as his showcase was a soothingly mellow.

However, reading the mood of the crowd, the Zulu neo soul musician switched gears and gave his fans some of the soul rhythm and blues such as R. Kelly’s Happy people which got the attention of the crowd and got them engaged to his performance, before closing off with his loved sing along popular ‘Mnike’ track.

But, it was Scavenger, Han C and DJ Lefatshe who were the highlight of the event with their master class performances. Energetic Scavenger and Han C with their dancers dared the crowd to fixate on them as they exceptionally stamped authority in their own backyard.

Dj Lefatshe also brought his enchanting demeanour with traditional music set, though brief.

A cherry on top for the fleekers was collaborative performance by Han C and Donald of South Africa, delivering their latest single ‘Mmele Pelo le Moya.’

The collaboration came after Donald, born Donald Moatshe, posted his new project, which he sang in his native Setswana language on his socials and a lot of Batswana from Botswana commented calling for a collaboration with their own Han C.

“Batswana ba ntsamaetse as they heard a little of my resemblance on Donald’s Setswana renditions. So, I have been flying out to Johannesburg recording and shooting the video of the song,” Han C said.
