MAINTENANCE OF LOBATSE POLICE STATIONS ON CARDS

Africa-Press – Botswana. Lobatse and Woodhall police stations are planned for maintenance during the 2024/2025 and 2023/2024 financial years respectively.

Answering a question on behalf of the Minister of Defence and Security, the Minister of Agriculture Mr Fidelis Molao said the scope of work for Lobatse police had been completed by the ministry engineers.

He said bill of quantities and Invitation to Tender were being prepared to enable tendering before the start of the 2024/2025 financial year.

Regarding Woodhall police, he said it was in the maintenance plan for the 2023/2024 financial year and the project was tendered through an open tender.

He said it was noticed on August 18, that the tendering documents were not properly prepared which led to the cancellation of the process.

He added that the project was currently going through a re-tendering process, which was expected to be completed before the end of this financial year.

Minister Molao said the police houses at Peleng would be demolished and reconstructed during the 2024/2025 financial year.

“This project is in the Transitional National Development Plan and will be implemented through the Development Manager model. Currently, the appointed Development Manager is preparing the designs for the project”, he said.

Lobatse MP, Dr Thapelo Matsheka had asked about plans to maintain the two police stations given the dilapidated state of the facilities which he said was not in a condition to provide quality services as expected of a professional service.
