Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana’s High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand bid Batswana staying in those countries farewell recently as her tenure comes to an end.

“As most of you might know, my Tour of Duty as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Botswana to the Commonwealth of Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and the Solomon Islands will end on the 2nd of February 2024,” Malesu said in her farewell message.

She said, “It has been an honor and a privilege for me to serve as your High Commissioner for the past four years.”

Makgatho said, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere, profound gratitude, and deep appreciation for the tremendous support, engagement, and cooperation you extended to me during my tenure. It has been a pleasure representing my beloved Republic and its people, most heartening, you in the Diaspora!”

She said, “I leave Canberra with full satisfaction and pride to have contributed to growing the good relations and cooperation between Australia and the countries I was accredited to.”

Makgatho said, “Your contribution to my professional and, indeed, personal development is highly appreciated despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic brought about. I am glad we came out strong and dedicated to serving our country and Batswana.”

She said, “I am strongly convinced that the same level of support I got will be extended to my successor and the Botswana High Commission- Canberra Team.”

“I wish you all well in your professional and personal undertakings in Australia and the region. I am confident that you will continue to raise higher the Blue, Black, and White Flag of our beloved BOTSWANA and contribute to the aspirations and development of our fellow countrymen and women,” she said.

She concluded thus, “Lastly, you may be aware that Botswana goes to the polls in October 2024. I encourage those eligible to vote to register and exercise their Constitutional right to vote later in the year.”
