MAUN RESIDENT INTENDS TO BUILD EDUTAINMENT CENTRE

Africa-Press – Botswana. Incidents of child negligence in Maun have motivated Mr Gaolebale Mogodzo of Boseja ward to consider constructing an edutainment centre for children in the village.

In an interview, Mr Mogodzo said he had secured land and the district council had accepted proposal.

However, he was working on the business plan so that he could approach financial institutions for financial assistance.

When operational, the centre will provide full-time child care services for children of all ages including infants, preschool and school going ones.

The centre, he said, would also offer hourly care where parents would drop their children for some hours while carrying out other errands.

“Lack of care for children is a serious concern in Maun as some parents have neglected their responsibility to nurture their children, thus exposing them to abuse,” he added.

The youthful Mr Mogodzo said the facility would comprise pre-school, coffee shop, play centre, indoor place where people could relax as well as an area where parents together with their children could sit and be drilled by experts on issues of life.

The love for children motivated him to think of the facility, which would offer children a broad menu of play in a playscape environment as well as enhance their well-being.

Mr Mogodzo, who owns Brav Duk company that specializes in various entertainment for children, noted that he had a wealth of experience of dealing with children and that some had already turned his house into a place of safety and comfort.

He acknowledged that some children came from disadvantaged families, noting that he always gave them hope that they could make it in life if they focused.

At times, he engaged his pastor to pray for the children and their families because he believed that every child had the right to live happily and protected from any form of violence.

Meanwhile, Mr Mogodzo is also planning to host inaugural ‘childcare education expo’ aimed to empower and capacitate aspiring and existing entrepreneurs in the childcare space.

The expo would attract business dealing with children related issues, day care centres, representatives from government agencies and financial institutions to discuss and exchange ideas on how best they could improve the industry.

The expo, he said, would also provide an opportunity for those who wanted to venture into pre-schools or child centres to understand the requirements as well as learn best practices and procedures on running successful businesses.
