Africa-Press – Botswana. Pioneer Boarder Gate in Lobatse experienced bearable traffic of people crossing into Botswana and South Africa in the early hours of December 23.

Expectations were to see travellers flooding the border ahead of Christmas day celebrations. However, Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS), customs officer, Ms Alenah Kealeboga said over the past two days they had been experiencing low numbers of people crossing the border. Ms Kealeboga said they only experienced high traffic of travellers around December 15 – 20, when a lot of companies were closing business for the festive season. She said the only taffic they continued to experience even to date was that of truckers transporting fuel and food commodities. Pioneer Boarder Gate is still undergoing renovations to convert it into a one-stop border facility.
