Africa-Press – Botswana. Minister of Minerals and Energy Mr Lefoko Moagi has emphasised the importance of maintaining an optimistic outlook in the workplace.
Mr Moagi was speaking at the ministry’s achievements delebrations recently.
He expressed the need to surpass the expectations of various ministerial stakeholders and adapt to evolving demands in order to remain relevant and provide diligent service.
Further, Minister Moagi highlighted the significance of adopting a fresh perspective in the workplace, as it enabled officials to stay aware of stakeholders’ evolving needs.
He stated, “To exceed our stakeholders’ expectations, we must embrace a mindset change and develop innovative approaches. Our aim is to create an environment that fosters growth in the minerals and energy industries.”
Furthermore, Minister Moagi emphasised the importance of not only being compliant but also proactive and critically analysing the issues at hand to achieve significant milestones.
“The ministry aims to cultivate a work environment that not only meets stakeholder expectations but also promotes continuous growth and addresses challenges innovatively,”he said.
He acknowledged a few of the ministry’s achievements in the energy sector, such as agreements with BURS for petroleum collection, connecting Kgatleng and Borolong villages to the national grid to eliminate power outages caused by load shedding, and the commissioning of Bobonong and Shakawe plants.
In the mineral sector, he said notable achievements included improved Mineral Potential Fraser rankings, the introduction of the Minerals Policy in Braille, the successful FACETS conference, and increased employment opportunities in mining.
Despite the challenges faced by ministry officials throughout the year, Minister Moagi expressed satisfaction with their resilience and seamless collaboration across various industries. He encouraged introspection and innovation in overcoming these challenges.
Mr David Kgoboko, CEO of Botswana Power Corporation (BPC), also emphasised the importance of maintaining teamwork within the various ministry sectors.
He viewed teamwork as an ongoing strategy that contributed significantly to the country’s development and prosperity.
