Ministry Awards Contract for Moshupa-Manyana Road

Africa-Press – Botswana. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure awarded the contract for construction of the 24km Moshupa-Manyana road which includes Bikwe access road in September this year.

Assistant Minister, Mr Keoagile Atamelang told Parliament on Monday and explained that Bikwe road of 8.5km was included in line with the Access Road Policy which stated that all access roads within a 10km radius of a major road under construction should be included in the project. He further noted that the project commenced this year October and due to be completed in October 2026.

The assistant minister stated that the ministry periodically maintained Moshupa-Naledi road through dry grading and that was last done in September.

Regarding Tshweneyagae-Kgomokasitwa-Magotlhwane road, he said it was part of Digawana- Molapowabojang-Kgomokasitwa-Magotlhwane-Ntlhantlhe road project which was approximately 60km including access roads to the kgotla in these villages.

This project was awarded for design and construction in October 2024 and the design stage is yet to commence and is expected to take six months within a total project duration of 36 months.

Assistant Minister Atamelang was responding to a question asked by Moshupa/Manyana MP, Mr Karabo Gare who asked for an update on the construction and maintenance of the road connecting Bikwe, Manyana, Moshupa and Naledi as well as that connecting Tshweneyagae, Kgomokasitwa and Magotlhwane.
