Africa-Press – Botswana. It is in the interest of women over 40 to run regular tests for ailments such as arthritis, high blood pressure and different types of cancer due to degeneration.

When speaking at the Miss Millennium high tea session in Gaborone on Sunday where she explained that there was a cancer for every organ and every part of the body, health specialist, Kgomotso Matlhagela said regular visits to the doctor for holistic health screening was crucial.

“Luckily, women respond fast and seek medical attention soon when they suspect something,” said Kgomotso.

She said contraceptive pills were not to be taken for over five years as they made one vulnerable to cancers.

Kgomotso also advised women to stop taking contraceptive pills to mitigate the effects of menopause.

She said it was important to exercise and eat healthy than to try reduce the effects that came with aging.

Therefore, Kgomotso said there was no formula to evade health challenges that came with menopause and being over 40 years.

Etiquette consultant, Samantha Matlhagela advised women to make plans for their lives by drawing a mission, values and vision.

She said a personal mission helped one get through life.

Samantha said family and women’s financial wellness depended on them and everything was within reach provided they made sound personal decisions.

She said some women were undergoing difficult situations, but would not to give up.

“Don’t waste your pain.

Life experiences will build you.

Life is colourful.

Allow yourself to explore,” she said.

Miss Millennium high tea organiser, Zenzele Hirschfeld said they chose to have high tea sessions to help the disadvantaged through prelude events to the Miss Millennium final.
