Africa-Press – Botswana. Former Department of Informatio son and Broadcasting Services employee, Thatayaone Mmamosese Kepaletswe was laid to rest Friday in Mmadinare, her home village. She died aged 59.
The youngest of seven children, Mmamosese joined the Department of Information and Broadcasting Services in 1982 and later worked for Debswana, Botswana Ash, Botswana National Productivity Centre and Botswana National Food Technology Research Centre. Speakers praised her above par work ethic, compassion and as someone who was strong willed. She was bold and never minced words, former director of Information Services, Ms Kebareng Solomon said about Mmamosese. Ms Solomon said she and Mmamosese clicked from the onset, probably because she was her motherâ€TMs namesake, a fact Ms Solomon said she only learnt about at a later stage. She said employees of the then Department of Information and Broadcasting shared a unique bond, more like a family whereby everyone was on first name basis or called by their pet names. This meant that even when someone left the department for greener pastures, the bond remained, Ms Solomon said. Her daughter, Ms Gaone Kepaletswe said she and her sister were raised by a strong, hard working mother who fought a good fight. Mmamosese reportedly took ill in August after suffering a stroke. Her determination never wore off, she kept fighting and Ms Kepaletswe said they made sure that they took her for walks every morning, to help her regain her strength. “If I happened to arrive late for her morning walks she would express her displeasure,†said Ms Kepaletswe. Her youngest daughter, Ms Gofaone Tladi thanked her mother for raising her well and always encouraging her to be the best that she could be. She was supportive and always encouraged us, Ms Tladi said.
