Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana’s top male model Cendric Senna together with three upcoming local models and one designer flew the country’s flag high at the recent Mozambique fashion week World Gold Culture held in Maputo.
The three local models: Selefo Senna, Kiara Konyana and Dolly Masilomangwe together with a local designer of Leranti designs were sponsored by Cendric Senna to participate in the event alongside models from Mozambique, South Africa, Eswatini, Portugal, and Zimbabwe.
The event was produced and directed by Cendric and the mother of Mozambican fashion Christa Phiri.
Cedric said in an interview that the event provided an opportunity for young African entrepreneurs to exchange notes through among others fashion show workshops and exhibitions.
He said his wish was to see local models and designers participating in international fashion shows.
“I went all out to sponsor the upcoming models and designers to participate in this fashion week. Every year I bring a group of models to this show to empower them,” he said.
Cedric who recently scooped the Best Personality of the Year award during the Botswana Youth Awards said the three models performed exceptionally well and were looking forward to participating in more international shows.
Leranti Designs, based in Selebi Phikwe also did not disappoint with their most intricate and elegant designs.
He explained that the fashion industry was among the most trending and most competitive industries hence the need for designers to continuously research, develop new styles and collaborate with other designers to create fashionable clothing lines.
“I am happy to announce that my team did very well and at par with the international models and designers. We only need to attend more fashion shows to market ourselves because fashion has also proved to be one area that could bring investors to this country,” he said.
