Africa-Press – Botswana. The details of Tshephang Mogale’s untimely death have been revealed at her memorial service that she succumbed to multiple stab wounds.
Speaking at the memorial ceremony in Phakalane, family spokesperson Ndiya Mogale stated she was the one who discovered Mogale in a bad state with the stench coming from the kitchen.
“I got into Tshephang’s kitchen on Monday where I was met by a strong smell from the kitchen. I went in only to see Tshephang in a pool of blood and flies around her,” she said as broke into sobs.
She shared that after finding her sister’s body in a pool of blood, she proceeded to call the Botswana Police Service (BPS) who questioned her at the scene. After answering the police, she stated that the officers proceeded to call doctors to do a postmortem as her body had deteriorated.
Ndiya revealed that the doctors told her the shocking news that her sister died a painful death.
“The doctors told me that it seems that Tshephang was stabbed with something sharp suspected to be a knife. She was stabbed in the head, chest, abdominal area, heart and just below the shoulder,” revealed Ndiya.
Following the completion of the post-mortem she shared that they were advised to lay Mogale to rest immediately, but due to some strings pulled they managed to expedite funeral arrangements for today.
Ndiya stated that she found Mogale after her mom repeatedly called her to go and check up on her after failing to reach her since Thursday.
Acting on the call, she said that she went to check up on Mogale on Friday and only stopped at the gate as her car was not there and figured she was just out. On Monday she then went back to see her if she was back only to find her dead after finding a way to get inside the house.
Fashion designer Berry Heart seized the opportunity to advocate for the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Berry Heart stated that Mogale’s demise should be a wake-up call to many people out there to put their foot down against GBV so that lives are spared. Mogale will be laid to rest later today, a day following the discovery of the gory scene. She will be laid to rest at Ledumang cemetery.
Family and friends described Mogale as one whose life was never meant to end this way.
